    Hi Jess,

I don't have Win98 so I don't have an entry for the Windows Script Host in Windows Setup. My WSH was installed with IE5.5, when I upgraded from IE3.02.. I used to use Netscape exclusively but then we wanted to install a program wuich required IE4 or hiigher so I upgraded to IE5.5, which my husband found that he liked better than Netscape. The rest is history.

Anyway, that's why I disabled the WSH with noscript.exe.

Your link shows how to reinstall WSH from Windows Add/Remove Programs, Setup tab, if it had been uninstalled from there. That would install the ORIGINAL version that came with Win98, which would be pretty old.

PS Just to clarify, Windows Scripting Host is the component of Windows Scripting that allows script (.vbs and .js files) to be run OUTSIDE of the browser. That's the component that gets people in trouble with vbs viruses . What JohnB needed to do was reinstall VBScripting support for Internet Explorer which is another part of the Windows Script 5.6 download:

    Hi Alice:

Wow--you really know this stuff--As usual, you are right on the money.

And you are very specific and articulate. Nothing left to guess when you post.

    Thanks
