    At

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/gp/ExcludeExtensionsEx.asp

    Mr Gates says,

Example 2: Removing a file from the default list
In the Extensions box, type the file name extension of all default file types, except for the type you are removing. In this example, we remove the .slm file type from the list of default files.

    *.mdb;*.ldb;*.mdw;*.mde;*.pst;*.db?;

Where is this extensions box he is talking about. I need to remove the *.mda file as I need to be able to view files offline and it doesn't sync the files listed above.

    Ta,

    Stephen

The article is referring to group policy editor (Start > Run... > gpedit.msc). The option is located in (need admin rights)...

    Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Network\Offline Files\Files not cached

However, the .mda file you mention is not excluded by default so that may not apply.

Does it make a difference if logged on as an administrator? Can you copy these files to another location using windows explorer?

I can copy the file "manually" from network drive to c: drive no problem.

It's only when I try and Sync for offline viewing it comes up with a lot errors relating to database files including ones I have access to. The error says...

Unable to make 'Supplier.dbf' available offline. Files of this type cannot be made available offline.

This is for .mda mdb .ldb etc.

My administrator is off until Monday so can't try logging on as adim until then.

Yes, it would apply in that case. Did you try modifying the policy? It is documented in 252509.

Sorry, ment to say. I did try to modify the policy but as it wasn't configured it isn't the reason the syncing is blocked. I tried disabling the relevant bit but it made no difference.

What I will try on Monday is enabling the policy and typing in,

    *.slm;*.mdb;*.ldb;*.mdw;*.mde;*.db?

    then after a reboot

    *.slm;*.ldb;*.mdw;*.mde;*.db?

and see if that clears the .mdb from the blocked list.

Right. For future reference you need to enable the "Files Not Cached" but leave the list blank.
