I loaded 7.02 about 5 days ago. I have now found out that when attempting to open the message search tool... nothing happens!!

When I log off and then login as ADMIN I can use the tool.

Any Ideas??? I have used Netscape for 10 years! I hope I don't have to go to Outlook! But if I can't resolve this in the next 12 hours I will be forced to do so because I have I business to run.

There is not much that one can do without some background info., but anyway, do you have to login as another user instead of Admin. for your business?
You are not saying it, but I think that it is more of a Win XP issue.
I was trying to help my son with some problems, using his Win XP, and there were a number of things which I could not do, until he gave me access.
I hope that this may help.

    More Info

    Windows 2000 pro (preSP4)
    P4 3.0 GH
    1 GB RAM

Everything works great with administrator rights but due to policy we can not stay logged in with admin rights. All users have a LOCAL admin account but ONLY to be used for installing software and troubleshooting. We all have a network account with USER rights on the networked machines.

Hey of all the servers and networks at this University, ours is the ONLY one that has NOT been hacked in the past 2 years!

Also, this was working up until a few days ago, and nothing has changed on this computer or the network in that time. The message search option JUST stopped working in my network account.

    Welcome to the Forum, yarbrold!

    Hi yarbrold,

This is not a common problem, so there was little to no information. I did find these workarounds for you to try. I first have to say that any time a problem within the Profile pops up for no reason, it indicates corrupt files, hence a possible need to create a new Profile.

    First the workarounds:

    With 7.01 closed:
Delte XUL.mfl file. It will be recreated when Netscape is started again. It's a cache for the user interface.

Rename your profile's localstore.rdf file to Xlocalstore.rdf. This file defines default windows settings. Saved persistent values. Info about toolbars, size, positions, etc

Delete the MSF files in your profile's mail\mail.account.name folder.
If there are any SNM files in the folder, delete them too. Don't delete any file which has no extension.

Create a test profile to see if the problem is within your profile, rather than the installation. If a new profile has the same problems as the old one, uninstall/re-install the program.

    Ramona :D
