    Hello
I have been unable to access some secure sites. IE 6 is supposed to be 128 cipher, but the one I have still shows as 56 cipher. I tried to update (in case there's a newer version of IE 6.0) but it said I have the newest versions of everything.
I don't understand how can IE 6.0 still have 56 cipher.

(One thing: I had once installed a trial of AOL which put its own customized version of IE. I have since run into several problems with IE. I have since re-installed and repaired IE 6, but it still says "customized version of IE" in the help menu. Don't know if that has any bearing on things)

    Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Kevin

    Kevin,

I found the same problem. Finally I tried this and it worked, at least it did for me. I went to the page where the (very small)update for 128-bit is at Microsoft, the page that says this is only for 5.0 and 5.5. I downloaded it and installed it. Bingo! 128-bit security. It showed 128-bit in Help About AND let me go to the site. I am using W2k.

    Tom and Arie,
I had found that security update, and I do have Win 2000 pro. But whenever I tried to install it (and, yes, it is the one that says for IE 5) it said you can't run this on Win 2000.
So I finally found a Windows 2000 128-bit encryptation upgrade patch and I ran it. Then when I went into IE, it had changed to 128 cipher. Go figure !

    Thank you for your help
    Kevin
