    Tigaston,
You can do this by editing the registry, but maybe easier would be to uninstall the Acrobat Reader in Control Panel / Add Remove Programs and then re-install it.

Another way is to copy and paste the following to a Notetab document ...
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    REGEDIT4

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AcroExch.Document\shell\open]

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AcroExch.Document\shell\open\command]
    @= "\ "c:\\Folder\\Acrobat\\Reader\\AcroRdxx.exe\" \ "%1\" "
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Then in Noteab, edit where I typed Folder to the Folder name you installed the reader to, and the C: to the correct drive letter of the installation. Where I have typed AcroRdxx, type your Acrobat reader program name.
Save this Notetab file in My Documents as Acro.reg
Right click the file and choose Merge
Ensure you can get back to the previous registry again !
(In case I or you made a mistake)
Note that this assumes that the .pdf file suffix in the registry HKCR still points to AcroExch.Document.

You can also use Windows Explorer, View, Folder Options, File Types. Scroll down to Adobe Acrobat Document and choose Edit.
Type the full path and name of your reader apply and exit

Ah well, maybe an uninstall / reinstall is easier ...
    regards

    Bah...
Open Explorer, find a file that ends in .pdf
Hold down the SHIFT key, and RIGHT click.
Select Open With, and use Adobe Acrobat.
Put a tick mark in the little box that says "Always use this program... ".
    Click OK.

Related question-- I click on a .pdf document on the internet. I've got Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.x. Isn't the document supposed to open automatically? Or, what am I supposed to do in order to read it?

    Davott,
Yes it should. You may have lost the tie in with IE. Reinstall Reader..

    Yo, Aleekat:

You hit the nail right on the nose. Who would have thunk it. I've been staring at it in Programs all this time. Would never have known that it could still be alive, but not connectable with IE.

Thanks, you are my hero of the day, ... well the hour.
