WinXP Pro seems far better than XP Home in networking. In particular, i'm trying to network all the computers in the house through a router and share files but can't get it to work. With a Windows XP Pro computer, it can access all the files shared but the XP home is unable to. Anyone have any idea how Windows XP Home can network as easily as Pro. In Pro, I can just double click my network places and it'll come up with all the comps on the router. With XP Home, I only get the icon "Entire Network" and can't connect with any other computers yet they can connect to me.

Don't use a domain. XP Home can't join domains and has no idea what to do with them.

Run the network setup on the Home machine and copy the config to a floppy to use setting up the others, so that you will be assured the setup is compatible with Home.

The best Home Networking OSs I have found are 95b, 98 and 98 SE. They handle the mixture of same with no problems.

ME and XP gave me NOTHING BUT problems.

Plus with XP I had to wait at least 5-6 minutes after a boot up before the other 2 machines would show on this machine.

With SE they are here almost immediately. ( if they are on that is )
