    Hi Ramona

A tiny question please: where does NS 7.02 store it's cookies?

I've been searching them- using FIND and using names etc. that show when `Manage Stored Cookies' is opened; and I've been browsing Windows' sub directories to no avail.

Can you remove my blinders please?

    Best regards

    Hi Welt,

Cookies.txt is found in your salted folder:

    C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\profilename\*.slt

    Thank you Ramona

I forgot that coolie are saved as a file with Netscape.

Do you habitually - each day or each week or so - clear all cookies? If yes, does their loss force you to re-register at sites?

Also is their any trick to finding out from which sites cookies have been set? Some are easy; some are best revealed by looking into cookies.txt and some I find are totally unknown, at least to me.
Many are advertising cookies which I don't want [often with huge blurbs of code].

    Take care.

    Hi Welt,

I never delete Cookies. The only time you might want to delete them, is if you suspect that you have a corrupt cookie. You could then try and isolate it, and remove that cookie only.

If I ever think I have a corrupt cookies, then I use a cookies.txt file from a previous backup, and replace the existing cookies.txt file.

Yes, if you delete the entire file, you have to reregister at all sites requiring that you place a cookie for their site.

You can opt to accept cookies for the originating web site only, which is what I have selected.

You can tell which sites have set cookies from the Cookie Manager. Most are fairly self explanatory. E.G., this site shows windowsbbs.com in the cookie information window.

If you have cookies that are definitely adware, then remove them permanently, by checking : "Don't allow removed cookie to be accepted later ".

    Hi Ramona

I have had ` Don't allow...etc, ' enabled for some time and I've also gone through `Cookie Sites' to remove some desireable sites to set cookies. Why they were listed there, I don't know unless it's from my early playing about with which cookie setting I'd enable.

I don't disagree re many cookies being easily revealed as to their owner (s) but there still are others about which I have no utter notion. Could be because I use Goggle a lot to search for informational data, etc. As a consequence, I often try many of the top recommendations/returns.

Unfortunately Adware does not seem to be Netscape friendly except for its ability to remove overly aggresive advert cookies, spyware, etc. It cross references IE and Internet Options. I will need to revisit the home page and perhaps, ask.

    Oh well.

    Once again, my thanks.
