    :mad: Is there any way to stop the Scanner and Camera wizard from popping up when I insert a CF card into my CF card reader?

    Is there any way to stop those helper windows from popping up when I insert a Zip disk or CD?

    XP is constantly stepping in between me and what Im trying to do. Are there registry hacks to stop that?

    Thanks, buzzard

    I don't have a scanner or camera, so I'm not sure if the following directions will resolve that problem, but they should resolve the problem with the "helper windows" opening when you insert a CD or Zip disk;

    Double-click the My Computer icon on the desktop.

    Under Devices with Removable Storage, right-click the device you want to modify, such as CD-ROM drive, and then click Properties.

    Click on the AutoPlay tab and in the drop-down list select the multimedia content type you want to change.

    Under Actions, you can click the action you want Windows to perform when it detects the media type you selected, or you can select it to prompt you each time it detects something. From the sounds of your post, yours appears to be set to Prompt each time.

    If you want no action taken select the media type, click on "Select an Action to Perform" and then on "Take No Action ". Then click on Apply.

    You will need to do this for each device you want to modify.

    NOTE: Your removable storage device must be attached to your computer for it to appear in the My Computer folder.

    I don't think you have it installed right it shouldn't do that if you have it configures right to your card reader or your scanner or your printer have you got the right driver for it? uninstall it then reinstall my xp runs ok with all my stuff with no problems from the wizards unless I put something in new

    Thanks surfbum

    Thanks surfbum but I followed Rod's suggestions and now everything works fine. I didn't have the AutoPlays configured correctly. Everything is cool now, thanks anyhow. Buzz

    autoplay problem with Panasonic E-Wear

    Hi Rod,

    Thanks for the suggestion. I do have a MP3player and a cardreader. The problem is that Panasonic uses a proprietary form on the SD so XP does not recognizes it and I can only copy files with Realplayer. However because of the autoscan, XP keeps on trying to recognize it and hangs my system. I did try to disable this through your tips but the problem is still there. Do you have any other suggestions?

    Thanks in advance for your help
