Hello all, I've had this Logitech Optical mouse for a few months since last year. It's now "jerky" and unstable. Similar to what happens to a mechanical mouse. But with a mech mouse I can clean it.
How about an Optical mouse? What could be the problem? Or should it be replaced?
    I use mouse pad.

Is it a cordless? If so, try changing the batteries;moving the receiving unit around ;or resetting with the reset botton on the receiving unit. Mine works great as long as the batteries are fresh. Same with the key board.

If it is a corded Optical mouse, check to see if the cord is seated firmly in the back of the computer. If it is, then it is possible that a short has developed in the cord between the comp, & the mouse. Most likely up next to the mouse. I had that to happen to me once. Try observing the light on the mouse. If it is like an M$ one, it's got a rear taillight. :) When moving the mouse around, does the rear light ever blink, or go out. If so, there is a short in the cord, and it is not getting a constant conncection, and will have to be replaced.

    Thanks all

I didn't know you could clean an optical mouse but apparently you can by using cotton swab and go optical light area.
