I'm using W2k on SP3 with a Yamaha CDRW4416S trying to use the W2k B'up Wizard. It tells me "R:<CDR4416S> is not a valid drive, or you do not have access." I AM logged on as Administrator ALL the time. Also, EZCD Creator is completely updated and it works with that fine. I know that app has nothing to do with the B'up Wzrd, I'm just saying the CD and CDRW are working properly. Is there a FREE backup wizard out there. I've got a Seagate Backup Exec, but it's W98 Edition.

    Thanks,

    George Lea

    Back me up Scotty!!

W2k does not recognize CDR media of any kind. This is by design. You CANNOT write a backup to CD's. I dont know why they did it like that, it doesnt make sense. You need to use something like BackUp Now etc.
The only workaround I ever came up with was to use 3rd party packet writing software, Incd etc., create a folder for backups and mount the CD drive that folder. It works, kinda.

The right way is get 3rd party BackUp software.
