I am trying to install SP1 for Office XP. During the process I get an error saying it is unable to patch c:\Config.Msi\PT74.tmp. It says it may have already been patched by another update. The update is then reveresed and not installed.

Has anyone encountered this error and does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can fix it? TIA.

Ah ah! The frame wouldn't scroll and I didn't know the log parameter was there. I can continue now. Thanks.

Not done yet. I tried to interpolate the correct parameters for SP2 on the msiexec command from the SP1 documentation and the instruction on the MS site for SP2. I can;t seem to come up wiht the right parameters. Can you help?

P.S. I assumed that the same administration point was to be used with SP1 already installed.

    Thanks.

I'm by no means trying to chase you off...but think that this may help more than I'd be able to.

That wasn't much help, at least searching the archives. However, I took another pass at trying to interpolate from the SP1 instructions and was successful. Thanks again.

One last question, if you know. Its no big deal. Should SP3 come out, do I need to retain the install point and add SP3 or can I just install SP3 from a newly created install point (i.e. if I delete C:\office the later recreate it, will I need to install SP1 then SP2 before SP3)? TIA.
