    Hi Paul,

Post some of your error messages and I'll see if I can help. Also, does it happen with one program or when using any program? Thanks!

Thank you Mike for getting back to me....
I will send the exact writting when I get next error. I would say that I can get them in ANY or ALL programs, but mostly OE 6.01,,IE 6.01. I recently added a new stick of RAM, from Crucial. Its a 168 DIMM but its also the same brand that is in the PC. I can't remember if I was getting these "Illegal Operations" before the new memory was added. I went from 256mb to 384mb of RAM Mike.
    Thank You...Paul

    Paul,

A couple things that you could try. Remove the new memory and see how things run. If things go good, try removing the old stick and see if there is any change. You could reinstall IE 6. You could try reinstalling Mshtml.dll. Look here for more details. Scroll down and there is instructions for Win98.

Let me know if any of that helps.

    Mike

Thank you MMike and peanut for the help. I'm going to try the re-install of IE 6.01 along with OE6 also. I hope its not the new memory. The last thing I will do is remove the stick of RAM. I did buy it at Crucial and I believe its the same stick as the other 2- 128MB's of RAM with a total od 384MB. See I don't remember if this started happening right after I put in the new RAM. I think I'll send off a e-mail to Crucial also. I get an "Illegal Operation" error also in another program, but 95% of them are in Outlook Express. I was using Calypso E-mail for awhile,,really nice program by the way and its FREE. Lots of extra's ,,,maybe it has something to do with that. I'm starting to think in the lines of the RAM though :(
Thanks for ALL the great HELP!! I'll let you know how things turn out....

    Hi Paul,

How is it going with the mshtml.dll errors?

If your version of mshtml.dll is 6.00.2800.1141 (Find the file, right-click and select Properties, click the Version tab) then the MSIMN errors could be the result of the Feb 2003 cumulative update for IE. Details are in this previous thread:

    http://www.windowsbbs.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=14750

If you do a groups.google.com search on keywords like MSIMN Mshtml.dll then sort the results by date you will find lots of recent NG posts on this problem, for example:

    ========copy/paste=======
    From: Jim Pickering (jimp@mvps.org)
    Subject: Re: Invalid Page Fault
    Newsgroups: microsoft.public.win98.internet.outlookexpress
    Date: 2003-03-30 13:29:28 PST

That suggests that you installed the 810847 update which installed version
1141 of mshtml.dll and that dll is causing the problem. If it happens when you attempt to paste some text or happens when you hit the Enter key a time or two in succession, you might want to try installing version 1173 of
mshtml.dll which many other users have said fixes the problem for them. For your convenience, I've added a link to the version 1173 file at this site:

    Thank You Alice!

Hello Alice,,I'm not sure if my problem has gone away for good. I think I mentioned that I just purchased a new stick of RAM from Crucial. I wrote them and they sent me this cool site to test my RAM here He said to use Doc Memory, my RAM passed test. So I think it may have been another piece of E-mail Software that I have been using from time to time. Calypso E-Mail program,,reallly cool and thought it was fine because I used it for awhile. I uninstalled it and now the "Illegal Operation" errors have stopped. None for past 3 days,,I'll let you know if they start up again. I liked that Calypso E-mail and would like to use it again instead of OE....
Thanks Alice for all the EXCELLENT info ;) that you were so kind to share!!!
    Thanks~~Paul

    Hi Paul,

Sorry you had to uninsall your other e-mail software but at least your Outlook Express errors have stopped.

Rose City Software has a new version of Calypso called Courier Email coming out, in case you want to look into it:
    http://www.rosecitysoftware.com/Courier/

If you want to look into the problem with Calypso and your mshtml.dll errors, you could try the Calypso support center mentioned at http://www.rosecitysoftware.com/calypso/
    which would be http://groups.yahoo.com/group/CalypsoMail/

    Hi again,

I didn't think I needed to mention (but maybe I should!) that you could try simply reinstalling the free Calypso E-mail program...there's a link to the download form at http://www.rosecitysoftware.com/calypso/

Anyway, good luck to you whatever you decide ;)
