I often have documents sent to me in Adobe format and I try to copy/paste into word and lose the formats.
Is there a way that Adobe can be saved as a Word document (or any other document) without losing the formats?

Sal_gal--Also posted this reply over on VirtualDr. Hope it works.
    Perhaps of help
    http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&...convert+Adobe+PDF+to+Word"&btnG=Google+Search
which says most of the way down
"To convert Adobe pdf to Word doc format - If it's not copywright protected, you can just send it as an attachment to pdf2txt@adobe.com. You will get a text version sent back to you or pdf2html@adobe.com will return an html version. Also, have a look at this Microsoft Support area** which will give you information on how to do it manually. "
I believe I read somewhere else that Adobe limits the number of conversions you can request before charging (or selling you a program.)

    How do I email it?

I don't understand how to email a "read only" file in Adobe? I mean, if I can't copy/paste it into Word and send it as an attachment -- how am I to send it as an attachment to pdf2txt?

Sal_Gal--I understand you have solved the problem per the posts in the VirtualDr thread, although you do not tell us what the solution was.

    Haven't solved the problem

    beyond downloading Acrobat 5.0

Here's the situation: The promo materials I use as a sales agent open in Acrobat and I'm trying to select all/copy/paste into a Word document so I can email them out. But no able to. Because Acrobat doesn't have a "send to" feature or a way to maintain the formats. Fancy fonts, colors, background colors, etc.

Sal_Gal--Perhaps read the P.P.S. at the bottom first.
Well, did you try sending a .pdf file as an attachment to Adobe using the html email address suggested in my post?
P.S. If that does not work, you say you downloaded Acrobat 5. Do you mean Adobe Reader? If you indeed have Adobe Acrobat (a very expensive program), I would think you could get some technical support (perhaps even free) from Adobe at their website.
    www.adobe.com
P.P.S. Why do you want to change these files from .pdf to .doc anyway? Adobe Reader is free, and the people to whom you send the .pdf files can see them just as you see them (full format, colors, etc.) once they install Reader. Many people already have Reader installed but even if not, installing Reader is pretty simple and it usually automatically associates when you click on any .pdf file (though it take a few seconds to load, once installed).

Maybe I'm using the wrong terminology

All of the company promo materials & documents (flyers, business cards, things like that) are downloadable and can be opened up in Adobe (reader? acrobat?). I can print; select all/copy/paste but when I paste to Word, the formatting styles are lost. Such as fonts (big fonts), colors, background, pictures, images.

It seems from all the posts that there is nothing that can remedy this. I'm trying to get the company to re-design the documents in a Word document. The reason they don't is we have to buy supplies from them;ex. business cards. They want the agents to buy the cards, but I want to download and copy to Word so that I can print them out.

Sal_Gal--If I understand the reason you want to convert these files from .pdf to .doc is so you can print them out. But you can print from Adobe Acrobat or Reader retaining all the formatting. In Reader, when you have opened the .pdf file, you click File|Print or click the Printer icon on the toolbar. If it is a multipage document, you will be asked how many of the pages you want to print. There probably is something similar in Acrobat (in fact, you probably will actually be using Reader to open .pdf files if you use Acrobat, since Acrobat, itself, is for composing .pdf files).
And is it correct that you still have not tried sending a .pdf file to Adobe using the HTML address I supplied?
"It seems from all the posts that there is nothing that can remedy this." I feel you have been given several ideas.
