Q814033 SetUp error: "Setup could not verify the integrity of the file update.Inf. Make sure Crytographic service is running on this computer ".
Services; Crytographic services;Started/Automatic/Local System. also Remote Procedure Call (RPC);Started/Automatic?LocalSystems. Where do I go from here? How important is Q814033. I keep receiving you have a new update (Q814033), other updates downloaded, no problem.

I noticed there is a different version of Newdev.dll depending on exactly which OS you are running. So you may just be getting the wrong one trying to load. And according to what Microsoft says Here the 814033 is only needed if you are having problems installing other updates so .....

You might want to consider installing BigFix to notify you and manage update installs and turn off the Microsoft one. I have lots better luck with it and usually get notified a little sooner than Microsoft would have. Same downloads but presented differently and for me, more efficiently.

Plus with BigFix, I can easily mark an update I don't want/need so I never hear about it again.

Downloaded BigFix, will take a little time getting the hang of it. Tried Q814033 (from BigFix) install with same results. NoGo.

    Reboot

    Stop Cryptographic Services

    Rename %systemroot%\system32\catroot2 to oldcatroot2

    Restart Cryptographic Services

Try to install the update again

To Dorfmann; where do I find '96 system root 96/catroot' to make the change to catroot2? In Cryptographic Service Properties, Path to executable = C:Windows]System32\svhost.exe k. confuzed?

%systemroot% just refers to where your system files are loaded. Used to avoid having to list so many possiblities.

It can vary based on your PC but usually with XP will be c:\windows or if you did an upgrade from NT4/2K, c:\winnt.

So, for a single drive system or one where XP was the first OS loaded, %systemroot%\system32\catroot2 will probably be c:\windows\system32\catroot2
