Hi guys & gals: I can't figure out what is going on here. I started in '98 with an IBM machine and a 13gig hard drive, which after 4 years of use, (98SE) still had 4 gigs free. Now, I have built my own machine, (XP Home) which through a series of events has 3 hard drives (one on a pci card) with a total of 150gigs.

What's puzzling me is according to XP's hard drive management tool, total used space is about 48gigs! After reviewing each drive I just don't see this kind of total. I keep the machine clean of junk files and internet buildup, tmp files, etc.,

Is the management tool subject to mis-reporting hard drive space? Is there some kind of tool that can specify what files are using this space and the file by file total? I suspect duplicate redundant files are using a lot of space. How to find them?

I use Roxio's Go Back, I'm suspicious that it uses a lot of space. How do I find out how much space this program is using without uninstalling and reinstalling it? The program file shows only 16MB, does Go Back store files elsewhere?

    Any help would be appreciated.

Two tools to view your HD for file/folder sizes:

http://www.win.tue.nl/sequoiaview/ and PCMAG's DiskPie for which your going to have to register in order to download from their Utilities section.

    Regards - Charles

Got DiskPie and also found Dupless, duplicate file finder at the PC Mag site. Thanks for your input. Hope these give me some idea of what's going on as far as file size. I did'nt download the SequouiaView, I just didn't understand how it worked from the web site description.

    Thanks again
