Network Scanning tools

I am looking for scanning tools for trouble shooting our mixture of W2K and XP machines which are on a peer to peer network.

Any suggestions ?

You need to be more specific. Are you looking for tools to

- sniff packets

- verify line quality

- watch for downed systems and notify you

- something else?

 

I would like to monitor our individual p.c.'s for all three areas that you have mentioned.

We are also about to install a Solectek wireless setup from our base minesite location up to the mine portal which is approximately 1/4 of a mile away.

So I would need something to check the signal strength of that also.

I've always had good luck with Fluke equipment. You should be able to find most of what you need Here.

For the piece that watches the network for problems, my favorite is Spectrum.
