This screen has just started poping up at startup. What is it, and how do I get rid of it? Thanks!

Any chance you've downloaded Kazaa...rather than kazaalite...which is spyware free?

Yes, I did download Kazaa, but I also downloaded Diet Kaza. I thought you had to have Kazaa for Diet Kaza to work? So you're saying I should remove Kazaa and the screen I mentioned will go away? Also my Diet Kaza will then still work?

I've not heard of Diet Kazaa
I do know that Kazaa (Not kazaalite) is loaded with spyware...and thus, the topsearch.dll message you're getting.
In your place...I'd uninstall...run ad-aware...and then download kazaalie in it's place.

Daizy, I did what you suggested. In Add/Remove it says it cannot find the specified files when I try to remove Kazaa, could this have something to do with me running Ad-aware a couple of days ago and deleting what it found? Does this mean Kazaa will stay listed in Add/remove even though I don't think it's running? Also I had to go Msconfig and uncheck Kazaa to keep it from bringing up screen when computer reboots. Bottom line, is Kazaa still on my computer?

I did a search for Kazaalite and there seems to be different versions. Does it cost to use this and where would you recommend place to download?

    Hi again Mike
Try going through the steps here to rid yourself of Kazaa.
Do you have the updated version of Adaware?
    You can get kazzalite here.

Thanks for the info. I tried following the procedure to remove Kazaa and again tried add/Remove but it still said it still couldn't find the files. I did a search and deleted everything that came up under Kazaa, but still not sure it's dormant. I could not find the "BDE" folder it talked about. Since it's still listed in Add/Remove I don't if that still means it's active, I guess there's not much more I can do.
Maybe If I had not used Ad-aware (latest version) a couple of days ago and deleted everything, the directions to remove kazaa would have worked as indicated.

    Hi again Mike
You've done well so far. Have you again...run an updated scan with ad-aware? If so...have you gone on to download kazaalite?

I have again ran an updated Ad-aware scan and the only thing it comes up with is 4 cookies (C:/Windows/Cookies/ Midwest_M@hg1.hitbox), so I assume, or hope Kazaa is now harmless. Yes I did download Kazaa lite and I feel much safer using it. Thanks!

You're most welcome. Just be sure to click "No" when it asks if you want to update it. Or you'll be right back at square one......as it installs the full version again.

I downloaded version 2.1.0 which I guess is the one I was supposed to. So you are saying if it ever asks me to upgrade, then don't?
