RealOne Player Troubles

Hello, I have been have tons of trouble with this player(divx,mp3's,cd's,streaming video, etc.) does't seem to matter what I try and play...probably freezes up about 75% of the time. I noticed it also likes to start a program in Close Program window(alt/ctrl/del) called Rnathchk, when I close this my computer runs much smoother and faster. The realone people wouldn't give me any info on it and just told me to shut down all auto updates and what not and thats all i could do. I am running windows 98 on a Pent3, 550mhz emachine, 256mb sdram, 3d 8mb AGP video nVidia 128bit tnt 2, with IE6 for a browser, norton antivirus, and use adware 6. Is there another player perhaps that I can use to watch Realplayer steaming media online? It seems some sites give you the option only to use this one player, otherwise I would have junked it a long time ago.

 

How about an older version instead? I would recommend RealPlayer 8. It should work on those pages. I have tried the RealOne [version 9 actually] myself, and didn't like either.

U will have the freezing problem in any of the realplayer version, it depends mostly on the realmedia file u r trying to play. i hate realmedia but sometimes i'm forced to use it. i have real one player and i think it works a little better then previous version.

A quick solution is to forward the video.

It is so popular, there doesn't seem to be another option.

I've looked for other players, and for having something that is free, plays mp3s, connects with my mp3 player, and allows me to listen to streamlined radio (something essential to an expatriate like myself), I haven't found any other solution, unfortunately.
