I installed XP, and foolishly did not save my prior ME installation. I now find that I've got too many older programs that just won't run on XP, and I'd like to reinstall ME, but without uninstalling XP. Can somebody point me in the right direction?

The writer (HPRO) starts off by mentioning installation on a "new hard drive." That leaves me out, as I have only one h/d.

First off try running your ME programs in Compatability Mode - right click on *.exe file > Properties > Compatability > select Windows 98/ME from drop down list.

If this doesn't work you need a dual boot system - Win XP + Win ME

Use something like Partition magic to create a hidden partition on which you can install Win Me. Then use Boot Magic to select which OS to boot to.

Your data should be on a third partition where it can be seen by either OS.

I guess it was too much for you to read.
It's got nothing to do with if YOU have a new drive or not.
I realize that he first mentions a new drive, and then talks about having 2 drives.
If you read further, you can do it with two partitions on one drive.
