I'm not quite sure where to post this, but 2000 seems right. I run 2000pro and can't figure out what could be messing w/ the system.

Various applications do not recognize my cable connection (CounterStrike, MSNMessenger, Netscape). I had a dial-up and switched to cable recently. Netscape will only send emails to addresses within the same server as my email address, Messenger won't connect at all, Network games won't connect. Browsing works...Winamp works...

Any ideas? How could some apps recognize and some simply NOT recognize the active connection??! Any help would be wonderful as I am new to 2000.

Check each program's configuration settings. Some of them might not be smart enough, on their own, to look elsewhere than DUN for the internet connection.

    Ok...so I'm stupid.
My campus stmp server needs authorization in order to accept access to send email to other servers if you are accessing from a non-campus server. All the other problems are just symptoms of my idiot-ishness. Thanks!
