I got the new version of Spybot, the one with the immunize capability. I ran the online update thingy and it showed that a detections update was available. When I went to download it, the first error I got was 403 Forbidden. So I ran the detection again and it was found again. I tried to download it. This time it looked like it was downloading, but when it got to the end, it said 'Checksum Error'. What's up with that?

There is a place to the right of the download button for picking your download site. The USA one didn't work for me so I used a Europe one. Worked OK.;)

I switched over to the US server and it didn't freeze up, but the program rejected the new file. I checked my log and this is what I got:

    What exactly is a checksum?

    Checksum:

Every digital file is made of 1's and 0's. A checksum is a hexadecimal number of the total number of 0's in the file. The sender decides what the checksum is and then the file is checked for the same checksum after it is received. If it is different, the file is not the same as when transmitted. Can be changed by noise in the transmission path or by an intruder.

I had the same thing when I used the USA download. The European one worked.

You say the spybot is freezing? Is it because of the path? Maybe a little more wait while the connections and download are finished?

I don't know what you mean by 'path'. It freezes if I try to download off any server except the US one.

I may be using the wrong term "Path ". I mean the link from your computer to your ISP and their link to the next link and so on and so on until the destination is reached. Any one of those connections could have a slow down and cause you computer to seem like it is frozen. I find it to happen with overseas sites more often than here. The folks over there probably find the same to be true when trying to come this direction.

Well it was definitely frozen because I couldn't even close the program properly. Now I'm loathe to attempt to use one of the foreign sites again. I'll just have to wait for Kolla.de to replace the corrupt download with a good file.

Yeah I guess that might've been in haste. But I couldn't even get the program open. I found the workaround to it though. You have to disable autodownload in the configuration, which is in C:\WINDOWS\APPLICATION DATA.
