retrieving files

    a file i was working on was accidentally saved over. is there any way to revert to its original form or to find a previous saving of it?

    Since it was overwritten, no, it is gone. If there is a backup file for it, most programs if they do create a backup when saving the current one, give it the BAK extension with the original name.

    It'll probably be too late to use an UNDELETE program, but the fact that the file was "saved over" doesn't overwrite the original. It'll have been deleted, and another set up with the same name. Windows allocates the "new" file to a different place on the HD,
