I've got a laptop with Win2000 installed, running Office 2000 Premium Edition. When I try to do saves to a document on a network drive, and even on a local drive sometimes, the save process takes forever. The files aren't too large (50 - 75 pages usually), and the amounts of work being saved aren't large either (even saving a few new characters takes forever)

    I don't think it's a problem with the system itself. It's a P3, 700Mhz machine with 128 Mb of RAM.

    Any thoughts?

I'm not sure if has graphics or not. i was trying to fix this for someone else.

No worries though. It turned out to be an error with a personalized template this person was using. She recreated the template and everything works fine now.

    Terry,
This may not apply to your situation, but we encountered something similiar on an IP NT Network with clients running Windows95. The extremely long save times were resolved by
changing workstations from utilizing a fixed ip address to using
    DHCP.

thanks for posting tommyc. we already run DHCP, so I figured that wasn't the problem in this case. The user also noticed delays in saving certain files locally as well as to network drives, so the network shouldn't have been a factor

The user already had Journal disabled. As I mentioned, it turned out to be a faulty template.

    Thanks for the suggestions though.
