This lady has a laptop with Windows XP Home and she is able to connect just fine on the network in her office at one of the locations. But she can't connect to a second network at another location. What must I do to have two networks to work on the same laptop. Thank-You Steve

One site may require users to obtain IP address via DHCP, the other be 'hard coded' IP addresses. If both sites are 'hard coded' IP addresses, then the IP address range is probably different between the two sites. What about 'Workgroup' names -- maybe the default 'Workgroup', or maybe each site has their own unique workgroup names. Maybe one site uses 'real netbios', and the other is strictly TCP/IP - with or without Netbios over TCP/IP, etc.

So, each network requires a different configuration, and the computer must be reconfigured to 'fit' the network you are attaching to.

There are some software packages that will remember the specifics of each network (although you still have to set them up once on each network, at least the ones I've seen...) and will reconfigure for you, or you can manually re-configure each time you move.

And XP-home will only work in a stand-alone or peer-to-peer LAN. If the "other" office uses a domain, she will not be able to use it there. Requires XP-Pro for domain use.
