I have one site that I am suddenly having troubles with posting msgs on from this machine (runs W2000 Pro). Other machines on our home network do not have this problem (Win98SE & WinXP on those ones).

All machines are running IE6.0 with all patches, including the latest, applied. I am starting to suspect a recent IE6 fix applied to this Win2000 machine.

Problem is I get "Done, but with errors on Page." in bottom left corner, or such similar wording. What it prevents me from doing is clicking on most buttons on the pages - e.g. I can no longer post replies to posts on the board or go into options settings, for which I have to use one of the other machines. I can log in successfully (it tells me "Hi Ludwig .. ") though.

Sample error messages obtained by double-clicking the yellow triangle with ! in it have in it are as follows (guess wot firewall I'm running  ) -

    Line: nnn
    Char: 1
    Error: Object expected
    Code: 0
    URL: http://forums.zonelabs.com/zonelabs/board?board.id=inst&page=2

Where number nnn in the first line is -

For buttons at the top of the web page -
1 for "Dashboard" (not a button -- "My Profile" gets a different error message)
    349 for "New Message "
    371 for "Board Options "
    -- plus --
    514 for "Front Page "
    536 for "Previous Page "
    558 for "Next Page "

Same 3 buttons at the bottom the numbers are different -
    1847 for "Front Page "
    1869 for "Previous Page "
    1891 for "Next Page "

One person on the ZoneLabs board suggested I might be blocking cookies. I'm not; in fact with the firewall disabled (& unloaded) I get the same error so it doesn't really seem related to ZoneAlarm (Pro).

    IE6 "About" details -
    Version: 6.0.2800.1106IS
    Cipher Strength: 128-bit
    Update Versions: SP1; Q328970; Q324929; Q810847; Q813951;

    On Win98SE the update versions are: SP1; Q324929; Q331829; Q810847; Q813951;

Anyone have ideas on what might be wrong, and most importantly how I can fix it?

Do you have Activex or Java, normally disabled??

Regardless, try adding this site as a "Trusted Site" in IE Security Settings

Activex & Java are not disabled

Hadn't thought to check these options out.
.. Activex settings are "enable', with ones not marked safe set to "prompt ".
.. Java settings are set to "low safety ".

I had tried making the site trusted but it made no difference. Tried again just now & same result, even after closing browser down & restarting it. I've left the trusted site entry there this time.

    Problem has resolved

Last attempt to post to the problem site was 3 days ago on the 13th.

Having just allowed "automatic update" to download then apply Q815021 (with a reboot), the problem has mysteriously gone away.

Having read what Q815021 is about I have no idea why this seems to fix it. All I know is it's working today 7 it wasn't 3 days ago; no more apparent errors in the pages. Only [known] change has been Q815021.

Thanks for the suggestions that people made. Maybe this fix will help other people's problems too?

I lied!! Problem NOT fixed! But I know more about problem ..

 bother! But bypass is simple.

Seems the "cause" is - I cannot post to the ZoneAlarm Board from a Win2000 account that does not have Administrator privileges.

Anyone have the "ah! solution obvious .. if you do XXX it'll fix it" to suggest?

problem gone ... did JScript fix cure it?

Not sure if the latest MS fix I applied fixed this problem or not, but the problem has now gone away :)

The mysteries of Windows  is all I can say.
