A browser check indicated that IE6 has a cookie disclosure security violation. I was told to get Microsofts' cumulative patch (Q323759). I downloaded the patch for IE6. When I try to install the patch, I get the error message that "this patch requires IE6," and it shuts down the installation.

    What gives?

I am running WinXP Pro with IE6 on an IBM Thinkpad T23.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Is there a chance that you have IE6 SP1? while the patch is meant for IE6?
Go to the Toolbar, at Help\About Internet Explorer, a window will open and there will be a line called Update Versions. There will be info as to which 6 you have as well as installed updates for IE.

Thanks. I checked and I am running SP1, so I guess I don't need this patch. However, this begs the question, why am I getting the cookie disclosure violation?

Anyway, that's a topic for a new thread.

    Cheers!
