I am using WindowsXP. I want to have the texts that appear in various windows, such as website pages, do be in a larger font. I cannot seem to get this to happen without adverse side effects.

As far as I can find out, the advanced capabilities in the Appearance panel within "Appearance and Themes" allow me to change the size of many things (such as captions) but NOT the size of the text that appears within the windows themselves. As an alternate approach, I used the advanced feature in the "Settings" panel, and changed the overall font size from 96 dpi to 120 dpi. While this did change the font sizes within various website windows, it also changed many other texts outside of windows texts, sometimes making them so large as to become unreadable.

Is there any way to change the font size of window text without also affecting the font size of other displayed items?

Open IE, check to see if the font size button is on your toolbar, if it is, just click and change the font size for web pages to what you like, your options are smallest, smaller, medium, larger, largest. If the font button is not on your toolbar, then right click on the toolbar, then click customize, then select it from the available toolbar buttons and add it to the current toolbar buttons. It will appear on your toolbar and then you can select the size of font you like from the available options. The button's appearance is overlapping "A "s in blue and green colors. Good luck,

    Tar Heel,
Thanks. That worked perfectly for IE. Now, I'm greedy...
Is there a similar solution when I use America Online's own internet browser? The toolbar using AOL doesn't show any font size manipulation, as far as I can see.

    Many thanks.

Sorry - no idea about the AOwhatever thingy. Never messed with it.

But a couple other ideas for the IE browser

    - if you have a wheel mouse, hold down the CTRL key and roll the wheel. You will change the size that way just like selecting from the small, medium, etc.

    - and if you want more control over the size, tools~internet options~accessibility and check the box for Ignore Font Sizes ..... It will cause problems with the occasional page until you resize manually but only with a very few and you certainly get more control.

    - one more, not size but readability - is to also check the box to ignore font styles. That will give you text in Times New Roman usually and much easier to read than the ariel you usually see.

    Thanks, Neil.

I tried the wheelmouse + Ctrl and it worked nicely!
