    SCSI taep driver problem

I am fighting a problem with a Sony SDT-5000 tape drive and part of the testing process was to replace the Sony with a Wangtek. The problem I am needing help with, from this forum, is that I am unable to install the Wangtek driver. In device manager, the Wangtek shows up with a '?' in 'Other Devices'. When I right click it and select "Update Driver," I immediately get an error saying it cannot load the installer for the Wangtek. I've tried everything I can think of to resolve this (numerous attempts to delete and install with numerous reboots).

Does anyone have any idea what this error means and how to get around it? TIA.

Are you sure this drive is XP compatible? I've only been able to find the drivers for 95 and 98? :(

You are probably correct for the Wangtek drivers. However, the Microsoft generic DAT driver is supposed to work. Unfortunately, if I can't bring up the installer I'll never know.

Your drive is listed as compatible in the XP HCL (Hardware Compatibility List), so I would contact Sony support.

Thanks but I am one step ahead of that. I need to get the Wangtek working to prove whether or not it is the hardware or driver rather then the application.
