PC amateur needs help - yesterday I right-cliked on the start button and instead of the normal Windows Explorer options, I got an 'illegal operation' message, with details copied below. I re-loaded (I think) explorer from my master disk but that didn't clear the problem. I have teenage sons who use the PC so anything could have caused this! Advice gratefully received!

EXPLORER caused an invalid page fault in
    module CNVSHELL.DLL at 0177:10004d60.

    Hi whited
Welcome to the boards. Can you double check that error and see if it's supposed to be NAVSHELL.DLL rather than CNVSHELL.DLL?

Hi again whited. Thank you for the note..but if we leave it on the board, others may be able to jump in and help as well.
    I'll admit...I'm thoroughly stumped. I've never heard of CNVSHELL.DLL .

So....... Let's start with the small stuff.
Recent and updated virus scan? If not... use Housecall.

    Checked your computer for spyware?

All your critical windows updates done?

Long and tedious I know...but we've got to start somewhere?
