Just got done reading TonyT's response to a different question. It brings up a question I have puzzled over a great deal. As was posted, when you uninstall various apps. much junk is left behind and different versions of .dll files. I know that I should have been running system file checker from the time I got my computer. However, I have not. It is now four years later. Is there an efficient way of "cleaning out the junk "? Running sfc confuses me since I don't know which version of a .dll is one I want or one I want to off. Not a compellingly serious problem since my system is fairly stable, but would be good to know.

You could try Clean System Directory, available here. I have used it myself, and can tell you that it does make a mistake on the files estier2.dll, and cliconfig.dll. It doesn't delete them, just moves them. This program won't help with different versions of files, just ones that appear not to be needed.
