Wonder if anyone can help, have followed the directions in the camera manual and it will not communicate with the computer. Am arujning Win2000 service pack 3. Camera is Vivitar vivicam3315S Usb. Computer is "supposed" to see it as a removable drive. found "generic usb camera" under Administrative tools, computer management but with the red X
that means it isn't working! Was wondering if I must go with the smart card and card reader to get photos into computer.
    HELP Please.

Sorry - I don't have a clue but since this is more of a hardware issue (I think) and since you haven't gotten a nibble all day, I'm moving it to the hardware section and bumping it to the top.

Have got the problem solved. Seems they left a sentence out of the manual. ONe that should have read press th ok button on the camera when it says disk drive. did that, computer said "New hardware found" couple seconds later, in My computer, "removable drive" showed up. Clicked on that icon and could drag the pictures from the camera to a folder.
So now I will be working on seeing if I can email things.
Think whoever wrote the manual was so familiar with the camera they assumed any user would know to push ok. But since this is my first digital camera, wellll!
So I leave this solution for the next Vivitar victim!
