I am having trbl with XP after changing from a dual boot, 98 & XP, to just XP. After formatting the 98 drive it won't boot up.. It says I am missing the NTDLR. I tried the microsoft help but it won't work. I was informed on a, previous thread, see: Windows XP or 98 trbl, to repair the drive with XP on it. Will the XP drive be wiped or will it just fix the OS?

The 98 partition that you wiped out contained the files necessary for XP to load.

In my opinion, you would need to re-install XP on your C: partition assuming you did have 98 on C: and XP on D:.

Installing XP on C: should leave your D: partition untouched provided you go about it the right way around. You can then copy your Data files to the C: partition and later on format the D: leaving it free for whatever use you wish to make of it.

    PS.
Having just read your earlier post, the above is academic I believe. As they say in these forums, keep you posts in one thread to get the best advice.
