Abraxas, how do you resume normal operations when you are in STANDBY mode?

    Stand-by problems here to.....

I have a problem, that whenever I log-off & then click (STAND-BY) Mode,my PC goes into stand by,but then turns back on to where the name are showing.

Sometimes it makes some sort of popping sounds coming thru the speakers that is pretty loud. This just started after my brother hooked up a printer.

I have been turning off the moniter & speakers to keep them from turning on & to make the popping sounds quit.

I thought when you put it into stand-by mode, that the PC would kind of shutdown until you come back & wiggle the mouse or hit a key,but my PC only cuts off & comes right back on a few minutes later.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
