I am getting the following error when I try to open some of the programs on my machine:

    nVidia OpenGL Driver

    Driver component sizes mis-match
Retry to keep going Cancel to exit

Retry doesn't seem to do anything. The program won't open and when I select cancel the error goes away but the program isn't started either.

I'm thinking this is associated with my MSI Graphics Card but couldn't find anything on their site about this error.

Does anyone know what this error is telling me?

BTW, I just downloaded and installed the latest Java Platform. Maybe that has something to do with this?

    Thanks,

What model card? Did this just start or can you track it to something you did recently? (Very doubtful Java is involved.)

The card is MSI Graphics Card, G3Ti200 Pro-TD128.

The problem just started when I rebooted after loading Java. The only other thing I've done was set the path to Java via Control Panel > System > Advanced > Environment and edited the path command.

A couple of weeks ago I did update the driver but have rebooted 2 or 3 times since then with no problem. On the other hand, it is quite possible that I didn't run any of the programs that make this problem appear. Today I clicked on Java Web Start, got the error message and then tried a couple of other programs.

First, I'd check that the driver is the correct one and a WHQL. If it is, then uninstall the driver completely and reinstall. Look for any driver setup folders that can be deleted, too. These are usually in the system root. Check Add/Remove for a driver installation and remove. Then check Program Files for a driver folder and delete that. We need to be sure all the files are gone so any size mismatch between old and new files is eliminated. The folders will probably have NVidia in the names.

Also go to Windows\temp and Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Temp folders and delete all that it lets you. Old and new setup files could be mixed there, too.

You might try installing in Safe Mode. However, if the installer is an msi, it won't work in Safe Mode (Windows Installer service must be running). In that case, Run: msconfig and do a selective startup. Uncheck all the boxes on the first page except "Load System Services ". At least that way the driver will not (hopefully) be in use during the installation.

Sorry if this looks like a pain. It may not all be necessary, but I want to be thorough.

Abraxas, thanks so much for the help. It took me a couple of tries to get it done but you were right on. I have to admit I was lazy and didn't go to the trouble of deleting all the "old" drivers I had for the card and it didn't work the first time. I deleted the files, as instructed, and it worked the second time around.

I might not have the time to do it right but I always find time to do it over!!!!:D

    Thanks again,
