Auto restart with shutdown

    At close of day I go to Start and follow the "shut Down" procedure...windows is shutting down... the computer shuts down ...and then it restarts- I am on Windows 98 4.01 1998 or Windows 98 retail, OEM version any help out there?

    Thanks for the advice, I have gone there bu...the y don't specifically relate to auto restart at shutdown..they relate to hang ups, freezes, err messages...but I don't see auto restart...should I follow the other instructions?

    sounds like your bios might be set to automatically restart on shut down. Like when there is a power failure etc.
    do you know how to check and alter the settings in your bios?
