I find it very annoying: everytime I connect, using dialup, a samll window pops up, saying 'isp_name is now connected'
the problem is that I usually need to see whats behind, which is Outlook Expree activity.

Does someone know how can it be disabled from the registry? or any other way? please help, thanks

To disable all balloon tips in the tray:

    Run: regedt32

    Navigate to:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced

Create a REG_DWORD with value name EnableBalloonTips.

Give it value data of 0 for balloon tips disabled.

    Reboot.

thanks, but that would turn'em all off. Baloon tips are very useful at times. I meant only the '...is now connected' meaningless tip.

It looks like you get all balloons or no balloons.

You could try disabling the tray icon that shows you are connected to see if the balloon goes with it.
