An older post never got an answer to this question but I would like to get details filled in/added to/ corrected for these rough steps that I was given. I plan on doing two P-II systems, one of which has built-in modem, sound, and video on the motherboard.

    Does this seem correct?

Use drive puller program to Save drivers to another floppy.

Put Win 98SE CD disk in and create a bootable Windows Start up Floppy Disk (not sure how). I already have a Windows 98 Boot Disk, not one that came with Win 98SE

Run FDISK command from floppy to delete hard drive partition (not sure of menu procedure)

Run FDISK to create new single partition ( not sure what menus will appear)

Reboot system on Windows Startup Floppy that I create or the Win 98 Boot Disk I already have and RUN FORMAT C:

RUN SETUP from Windows Startup disk to install WIN 98SE- use drivers I saved on another floppy with the Drive Puller Program

Do all this sound correct? Thanks for the suggestions

Got no idea what a drive puller program is, and the only help I can try to give is the link above. Best to print those directions out. Study them thoroughly. If you don't plan on making aditional partitions, skip that part.

I do know that the boot disks for 98 & 98SE are not quite the same. So if you have a computer with 98SE already on it, go to Control Panel, Add\Remove Programs, then to the Start Up Disk Tab. Run the create disk. It will tell you what to do. Then you will have a 98SE boot disk.

    All your steps are good!

If your startup disk now gives you access to the CD for reinstalling then that is all you need.

The questions you have on FDISK removing and creating are pretty clear once you see them. Based on your steps you seem very capable of doing this.

I do assume that you are backing up all your Documents, favorites emails, address book and internet settings. If not do so before you fdisk.

There are several programs that backup Drivers to restore later. Exactly which one do you plan on using. I haven't heard of one specifically named Drive Puller?

    Good luck,

    Mike
