    I really need some help.........

Every time i close a file/folder/program, that annoying message "Explorer error caused in <unknown>, if you continue to experience problems, try restarting your computer" appears.

The weird thing is - this only happens when i am offline. when im connected to the internet , it doesnt happen.

Also, i dont have a System File Checker - is that the norm with Windows ME ???

    Any advice, much appreciated.

Windows ME uses System File Protection (SFP).

There is no Sfc.exe tool in Windows ME, because System File
Protection always scans the computer for file changes.

Try using System Restore feature of ME, picking a restore point dated prior to beginning of your problem.

The reason for that is that when you are online you are using IEXPLORE not EXPLORER

These two files are quite often confused.

EXPLORER is a Windows OS file.

I had A LOT, TOO MUCH and TWO MANY of those errors when I had ME. Out of all the time that I have had 98 FE or SE I have only see it a couple of times. And both times were when I was messsing around.

    because System File
Protection always scans the computer for file changes.

That it do. And I found it to cause more problems than it did good. It would stop Software compatable files from being entered.
