So I hav five systems in my house - all successfully networked with NetBeui...

I changed the network name of one of the machines (We'll call it machine X) so its name was more representative of the type of the machine.

In my XP Pro system I have several folders from the other computers listed under 'My Network Places'

I had a network place listed for machine X that had the old comptuer name. I deleted that listing and created a new network place for Machine X with it's new name.

    But.........

Whenever I restart my machine the old listing for Machine X shows up in 'My Network Places' in addition to the new listing. No matter how often I delete it - restarting the machine brings it back...

    Any ideas???

    Cheers,

    Ice

Move your XP box to a different workgroup (just invent a workgroup name) then reboot and put it back in the original workgroup and reboot again.

I think that will clear up this problem.
