    Appreciate some assistance.

Trying to help someone running W98SE, and that every time the IncrediMail program is closed, a prompt appears with: "This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. If the problem persists, contact the program vendor." However, the program has no tech support except for some FAQs, which do not address this type of issue.

The Detail on the error message is the following:

INCREDIMAIL caused an invalid page fault in
    module INCREDINOTIFY.DLL at 01bf:028bb34d.

Tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program from CP>Add/Remove Programs several times, and it is like doing nothing. The error continues.

Any ideas on how to solve this?

    Thanks for the help.

If it's only on shutdown, then you can probably just try to ignore the error.

The dll mentioned is responsible for the tray notification icon that appears when new mail arrives. You could try just changing the "Notifier ", or turning it off if you don't use it. Maybe you are using a lemon. I've gotten strange behavior with some notifiers, like their being always on top on the desktop even when there is no new mail.

    Thanks for the replies.

A Notifier is never used, however, did check out the Troubleshoot for the Notifier, upgraded IM, and now, this is what appears when trying to select a Notifier:

"INCREDIMAIL caused an invalid page fault in
    module MFC42.DLL at 01bf:5f404761..... "

Can't seem to win on this one.

    Any other suggestions?

Only one idea left :( :
If your upgrade was a full version and not just a patch for the previous version then completely uninstall IM, remove the folder from Program Files, and reinstall.

I realize you will lose added features since you first installed, but it's all I can think to do at this point.

    Update!!

Got it fixed. Everything seems to work right.

Unistalled IM from Control Panel (one more time).

Did a Registry find through regedit and deleted every instance of IM found there.

Did a Start>Find, and got rid of every IM instance in Windows.

    Ran a program called RegClean.

Downloaded latest IM from its website.
    Downloaded latest MacroMedia Flash.

Everything seems to work, no more error messages are showing up when using IM.
    :)

    Great!

Definitely a pain to start over, especially if you downloaded a lot of those daily offerings on templates, etc., but sometimes starting over is the only way to go.

    Good work.

Maybe the program was overloaded with too much 'stuff'.

    Anyway, everybody is happy now.

    Thanks for the help.
