When deleting a record in Access and that record contained an AutoNumber field, is there a way that when adding a new record, it will take it's AutoNumber.

For example if I have 100 records and I deleted record no. 10; Now when I add the 101th record is it possible that the Autonumber will replace the no. 10 instead of writing 101.

    Thanks

As far as I know you cannot re-use or update auto numbers in Access records. This is an exerpt from Access help:

"A unique sequential (incremented by 1) number or random number assigned by Microsoft Access whenever a new record is added to a table. AutoNumber fields can't be updated. For more information, see the NewValues property topic. "
