I just inherited a puter with W98 on it.

I have a conflict and have wore my fingers out surfing and looking ALL over my puter to change this.

The prev owner had something called Smart Explorer. I like and have Inter.Explorer.

Ok Off the Start in lower left corner: when I click favorites:I do not get
    "Add or Organize...Favorites "
Also any fav I hit off this will come up "cant find Smart Explorer ".

However when I hit upper rt corner Toolbar/Favorites:
That msg (cant find Smart..) never comes up , I have "add/organize favs ", and when I hit the link it goes to that site I want.

Please help me fix the problem off the "Start" corner.

    Also one last thing:
I have no network, but would LOVE to remove Networking icon from my Desktop Display. I have looked in Cntl Panel,etc.etc. and want to delete that icon alltogether.

I appreciate you reading all my info I have made very clear and your great priceless answers as always.

    You all are the best!

I don´t know about the first one but the Network Icon should go away if You right click on it and then properties and clear all network components. After re-boot it should be gone.

    HTH,

Probably the Smart Explorer browser has been uninstalled ?
You may have to check in Control Panel / Internet Options.
Click the Programs tab and check the box at the bottom
"Internet Explorer should check to see if it is the default browser "
    Click Apply and OK.
Close the Window and Control Panel.
Load up Internet Explorer and it should ask you if you want it to be your default browser - Yes.
    hope that helps ..
    regards
