jpg files disapeared

Hello;

I recently did an update of my W2000 to SP3 (I think) and ever since when I go to download a photo off the web it shows up as a BMP file when they almost always used to be JPG files.

Is there a way to make JPG files the default? I've tried simply "saving as" but JPG is not an option.

As an alternative, could I some how get the BMP files to auto name like the JPG flies used to do?
