    Hi all!!

Tonight as I was crusing in Windows Explorer, in the following folder: C:\Documents and Settings\XXXX\Local Settings\Temp where "XXXX" is my user name there are several of folders that appear to be Temp folders of previously downloaded or Unzipped files. Can anyone tell me what creates these and are they safe to delete? True they aren't hurting anything but I like to keep a tidy computer and I have an iquiring mind :)

Some are empty others have a .txt document called "appcompat.txt ".

    Here are some examples:
    C:\Documents and Settings\XXXX\Local Settings\Temp\Temporary Directory 1 for FalconSP2_Docs.zip

    C:\Documents and Settings\XXXX\Local Settings\Temp\WER1.tmp.dir00

Thanks for the Read and any info,
    Decon

If a program or windows exited unexpectedly temp files could be left on your hard disk. Deleting these files are a good idea because their presence may confuse the program that created them.

You should have "Disk Cleanup" as a system tool that can be utilized to avoid clutter and wasted space of unnecessary temp files. You may want to look into the specifics of the file before deleting manually.

Thanks for the reply! As usual I left out the fact that I had run "Disk Cleanup ". It removed more than half of the Temp files, say 8 of 15. XP-Pro has been so solid, I don't think I have ever exited unexpectedly....Yet!

Well, I'll look into this a bit more.

    Thanks again,
    Decon

    Temp Files

I try to keep things cleaned up also. I empty all of my Temp. files every day. Sometimes twice a day if a lot of surfing is done. I go to the control panel and click on internet options and delete from there. If you want to see them all,[ a mess ] click on settings and you can view them. BOB
