Well, assuming that you mean java games, like the ones on MSN's game zone, then you either have your java security set too high, or you need the java virtual machine installed. Unfortunately, Microsoft no longer distributes, or allows anyone to ditribute virtual machine. If you happen to have a file sharing program (I'm not endorsing them), then search for msjavx86.exe. That's the installer. Otherwise, you can try upgrading your IE to the latest version and set security to default.

Or go here for a list of links to MS Virtual Machine download sites.

In Internet Explorer, go to tools->internet options and select the security tab. I'd just click the default settings button and see how that works. If you still have issues, I'd highly recommend installing a newer version of Internet Explorer, or reinstalling your current one.

WhattyaNo..........I am not alone. I've been crippled with the same affliction for weeks and it just seems to get worse. If you fix it please reply to this post and restore my faith in technology and in the human race.. I've installed newest versions of VM to no avail. The Sun version didn't do it either. Repaired and restored, re downloaded and reinstalled IE6, and the problem has grown to affect pieces of most weppages, like side ads and annimated links. In their place, I see a small version of the Windows error message page that reads "page cannot be displayed ". I've uninstalled anything I thought might be causing the java ignore, including internet tools patch updates to IE6.0 with no results. I hope you're smarter than me, or can find someone with the knowledge to help you. I've done all I can, and still plugging away. Post with news, Kay?

I wonder if this could have something to do with a hosts file. Worth checking anyway. In spidermikes case the ads showing page not found would seem to point that direction. Check in your windows folder for a file named hosts with no extension. Don't know if it's hidden or not so you should have explorer set to show all files. If it's there the quick test would be to rename the file and then try IE. If the problem goes away you can open the hosts file in notepad and look for the addresses of those things that don't show up in IE and delete them from the file. In case you don't know you can find the address of the link by right clicking on it and choosing properties. If you prefer you can also just leave the hosts file renamed or delete it all together. Don't use one myself because of too many of these types of problems. Also, don't get the hosts file confused with hosts.sam. The hosts.sam file is only a sample hosts file and would have nothing to do with this.

Ok, one step at a time.. Yep it's there alright (303K) created or modified 2/3/03. The timing's right, that's about when IT all began.Had to post to keep you updated, and to say "how the heck can usepeps know so much about every little thing? "Does someone pay you ,or are you all just Internet Saints?
"Major Tom to Ground Control. I'm stepping through the door. "
    Commencing IE shutdown and restart.

Shoot, I was all set to praise your brains, but you'll have to settle for a well done. Everything was displaying correctly (no more "page cannot be displayed) frames. The pogo game even appeared to be loading (the pre-game ad was displayed). Alas, an Error Page poped up stating my Java was corrupted or mis installed. Back to being in the dark, as I was carefull when I downloaded and installed Sun's Java2v1.4 (or Whatever). It's funny though, the hosts file was generated from Spybot-Search and Destroy utility I downloaded to tackle this problem when I first noiced it.
More later. You people rule.ASWEETSITE for sure.

Thought I'd come back and update..... Turns out the error message was in error. Sun and co. assured me I could run java and javascript, and just disregard the message. My solution works but requires a little more interacting than was required by Microsoft's VM. I must manually start the java app when I open my browser. After that, all's well with my JavaWeb experience.

    LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL.......................sidermike
