    Several people have written into the boards lately complaining that they are unable to access the Windows Update site. The following possible solution was posted in todays issue of the WINXPNEWS Newsletter;

    1. Go to the Windows Update site as you usually do. When you get there, copy the address that appears in the browser's address bar.

    2. Click the Tools menu, then click Internet Options.

    3. Click on the Security tab. Click on the Trusted Sites icon and then click on the Sites button.

    4. In the Trusted Sites dialog box, paste the address into the Add this Web site to the zone text box. Remove the check-mark from the Require server verification (https) for all sites in this zone check-box. Click the Add button. Click OK.

    5. Click OK again.

    6. Close the browser and return to the Windows Update site to try again.

    Don't know if this actually solves the problem or not as I've not experienced it myself, but I thought those of you who have might want to give it a shot.

    Rod/helpless: have a look at this Post and see if there's anything that fits the situation.

    Here is one for you! I have just tried to "scan for updates" and again nothing happened. (It has been almost a week)
    Last night the "auto update" had tapped me on the shoulder to install and reboot.
    I'm still at a loss.
