I followed the instructions in the article on this site about slipstreaming XP and Service Pack 1a; it's a great article and I was successful in creating the slipstreamed CD. Boots up and performs initial install without a hitch; HOWEVER, when I key in my product ID, I keep getting an "Invalid ID" error message. This is a VALID ID! It works fine if I use the original Windows CD, and I even contacted Microsoft for assistance. They had me try two other valid IDs, and I got exactly the same results. Did anyone else encounter this problem? Has anyone got any ideas for a workaround? (This is a Windows XP Professional version).

With the slipstream CD in the drive, reboot, watch for "do you want to boot from cd?" press spacebar and it may work.:)

Thanks for the help - problem solved!

Great suggestions, but turns out my problem is already solved: my cd burner died the very next time I used it, so I replaced it and re-burned the slipstreamed XP/SP1, then re-installed using the new CD. This time, the install really DID go off without a hitch, and I'm a HAPPY CAMPER! Thanks for the help! :D
