How and where do you setup IE6 to launch as a maximized window from either the desktop or another program?

Open IE and drag the edges of the window until the screen is filled. The settings will (hopefully!) then be remembered.

Does not work. No where can I find a screen for settings for IE6 that lets me set the opening window to "normal, minimize, or maximize" like on a shortcut view. Any other ideas?

Right-click the IE icon in the QuickLaunch toolbar and select Properties. In the Run menu select "Maximized ".

But it doesn't work for me when I click a link in an Outlook Express message. How can I make the IE open maximized then?

maximizing windows, internet explorer & outlook express

To maximixe the page into memory the reply of dragging the corners is correct BUT before you start depress the CTRL key and hold it until you complete the sizing and before you release the CTRL key go to the File drop down and click close. Then when you release the CTRL key the page size will be memorized. This works with both IE and Outlook Express.:D :D

I use a free program called autosizer, located at http://www.southbaypc.com/AutoSizer/ It has the ability to make any window open fullsize and sure is handy. I hate having to click on the buttons to size windows after opening them. Autosizer has to be taught what windows you want sized, then runs quietly in the taskbar to do the job for you. happy puting....

That is fine to have a program to memorize. However my method does the same thing. You do not have to do it every time. Once you tell windows how to open the window it is opened that way all the time. Given the option of having a program to memorize window sizes or using the tools available with Windows (OS) I prefer not to clutter my drive with redundant programs. Thank you anyway.:D :D

Thanks for the postings. Sfantasia, your method (Ctrl drag) seems to work fine so far. I hope it doesn't revert the first time my Win98SE and/or IE 5.0 crashes, as they are prone to do.

Sorry to ruffle your feathers, just remember who was asking for alternatives and ways to open windows. Just though I would try and help...oh well, can't please everyone.
