Is anyone successfully using this SCSI adapter successfully with XP?

I am getting occasional crashes when using my SCSI tape drive (the only SCSI device) . I am not sure it is this device but the crash analysis indicates a driver problem. I have not had a crash when not using the device but I'm new on XP so there is little data yet to draw from.

In any case, on the Adaptec web site, there are drivers for this host adapter for everything except XP. The current driver obviously came from the XP install CD. Does anyone know of a more recent driver and/or if this is really the cause of my crashes? TIA.

    Evidence grows

The mounting evidence is damning, IMO. This is the longest I've gone without a crash and I have not been using the SCSI tape drive. I am becoming certain the problem is the Adaptec driver.

    Resolved

Although no one replied to this (Am I alone with this hardware?), I am updating it for future reference.

I guess it was indeed a driver problem. Something in a new Microsoft update seems to have fixed the problem.

I have that card in my Abit. I have a cdrom and cdrw and a scanner hooked to it. How do you have the card set up? I never had to update mine. XP and 2000 both have the drivers. aspi might be your problem. Do you have aspi installed? Or the tape drive. It is an old card.

When you boot up go in there and check the settings. Check Event Viewer for any errors.

Vaguely remember that the 2940 was also known as AIC7800 ?

Maybe a search for drivers for this would have been more fruitful

I have this card myself (the Ultra version) but its currently in a NetWare server thats been up for over two years that I dont want to spoil !
