    Hi,

I'm still thinking like a W95 user. Would like to know how to set up multiple partitions for my XP Home system which has a 40GB hd on it, about 75% used.

No, I don't want to buy Partition Magic though I realize this is the recommended method. And I gather it's not like in 95 where I'd do a clean re-install first using my startup disk to run fdisk.

So I'm a newbie to this and I'd like to start learning the steps. For starters do I have to reinstall the OS to do this?

Again, what I'd like to do is instead of having a C: drive with all 40GB's on it I'd like C:-F: or something like that. How much work is this? I do have plenty of backup space available on my network btw in case a clean install is needed.

Without Partition Magic, your options is to simply insert the XP CD in the drive and re-boot.

Select the option to do a New install and also choose to create partition (s) and format the disk.

Back up any important data before you start since all will be lost.

    Thanks Mahmud.

One weekend when I feel the urge and have the time I'll undertake this little project.
